VHLAA Update Regarding COVID-19

All Activities Suspended Through End of May.

Longhorns Families, Players, and Coaches,
You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers, and we hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy.

As we continue to take into account the news and positions of our participating local schools, leagues, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the updated National Guidelines for Opening Up American Again — we are continuing the suspension of all VHLAA activities through the end of May.

As of 4/17/2020, "Schools and organized youth activities that are currently closed should remain closed."

As previously communicated, the VHLAA board's plan was to start practices and games after May 1, 2020 — however, due to the most recent announcement regarding the benchmarks necessary to re-open the state of Kentucky in a phased approach, the May 1st date will not be an option. Under the current guidelines, organized youth activities would not be allowed until Phase II, which means the end of May at the earliest.

So, what does this mean for our season?

The VHLAA Board is currently exploring multiple scenarios for resuming baseball for the Spring 2020, and we are hopeful that we can still salvage at least part of the season. In the event that the Spring 2020 season will not be able to be played, the VHLAA Board is assessing refund options.

The VHLAA Board, like each of you, is anxious to get the players and their families returned to playing baseball as soon as possible; however, adhering to government restrictions and ensuring the safety of everyone is paramount in the discussions and decisions made by the VHLAA Board.

The VHLAA Board will continue to meet virtually to discuss potential scenarios and monitor the overall situation and send out additional announcements as news develops. We will continue to do our best to communicate as transparently and frequently as possible. Thank you for your continued patience and support during these challenging and unprecedented times.
